Secondary Syllabus
Course Description
This is the course description area of a classroom page. To edit this area of your classroom page, click on the Edit Description link in the red links at the top of your page. Notice the picture at the top left. This picture is added using the Add picture button. This picture will appear on the student's profile pages.

Use this area to paste your course description from your syllabus.
Also add here information concerning the freqency of Schoolfusion and grade updates to be expected along with your intervention strategies. This meets the requirements for the Course Outcome: Course Description and General Expectations: Communication Strategy and Intervention Strategy.

The following are guidelines for using the components on a SchoolFusion classroom site to complete your requirements for the Secondary Syllabus. Each of the components in your classroom pages have different uses and features.
  • Announcements: A good place to begin with announcements at the beginning of the semester would be to post your materials, fees and any safety procedures necessary for your class. The announcement section of the website pushes a message to all schoolfusion users as well as an email to those with an email in STAR. This will ensure that all parents will be notified of fees and materials needed.
This meets or exceeds the requirments for Instruction: Materials Needed and Fees.
  • Links: For the links section of your classroom page, create hyperlinks to local curriculum, state standards and/or competencies.  Click here for instructions on how to create these links so that the user does not get logged out when navigating to these sites.
This meets requirments for Course Outcome: Hyperlink to local curriculum, state standards and/or competencies.
  • Files: Place a copy of your syllabus here in either .pdf form or .doc for easy printing. This section of your site should also include documents necessary for students to download inside or outside of class. Remember, the documents can be marked in-active for future use.  You have unlimited storage. Parents and students are notified in a pushed message about files being added to your page.
This should not be used to meet the requirements for the syllabus but as an additional source.
  • Homework: Post homework assignments with due dates as well as provide the additional option of allowing students to submit homework online. When assignments are added using this feature, they automatically appear on the class calendar and are pushed in an email to parents.
This should not be used to meet the requirements for the syllabus but as an additional source.
  • Contacts:  Post your contact information here.  do not give out personal cell phone numbers or addresses. In the notes section, be sure to list your plan time or best time for you to be reached.
This meets the requirments for General Expectations: Communication Stratagy

Important information about the Calendar:  When you use the calendar feature of your SchoolFusion Classroom, parents will have access to all events listed. When parents log in to see class grades, they also have the option of looking at the class calendar. This information is also pushed to parents in the recent activity email.

What Not To Do: Do not publish copyrighted rubrics or other materials from the KCS intranet site...specifcally, Language Arts or English teachers using materials from Northwest Regional Educational Library.

Announcements
Using Announcments
When you use announcments, they are automatically pushed to parents in the recent activity emails. You can add announcements to one or all of your pages at the same time by checking off the boxes in front of your class names. Be sure to click on More Options and give an end date to your announcement so you won't have to come back and delete old announcements. This also will allow you to have an archive of announcements that you can use again.
Web Pages
Files
 Course Files
When you add files to your classroom page, parents receive notification in their recent activity emails. Parents and students can easily access any files you post here. Be sure to add a .pdf or .doc copy of your syllabus here.

You have unlimited storage space here. Mark files you are not using as inactive and student or parents will not be able to see them.
